UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES – Fresh Applicants
Entry Requirements for Fresh Applicants
The university accepts undergraduate programmes applicants graduating from high schools to join the university as fresh students provided that they meet the entry requirements set by the university and are in line with the Bahraini Higher Education Council requirements;
- Applicants must hold at least a recognized and endorsed secondary school certificate or its equivalent.
- Applicants must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency.

English Language Proficiency
Applicants must demonstrate a level of English proficiency consistent with the demands of an academic programme taught and assessed almost exclusively in the English language. This can be done in one of the following ways:
- Submission of an internationally recognized certificate of English language proficiency, e.g. Cambridge ESOL SCE or City & Guild’s Pitman Intermediate Level.
- Attainment of an acceptable score on an internationally recognized examination of English language proficiency, typically either IELTS or TOFEL.
- Passing the University English language placement test.
Recognized Secondary Certificates
- Bahraini secondary School certificate (Tawjihia).
- Secondary school certificates awarded by private secondary school in the Kingdom of Bahrain provided such certificates are endorsed by the Bahraini Ministry of Education.
- Arab secondary school certificates awarded by Arab Ministries of Education. Where applicable, the streams of these certificates are given the same consideration as the Bahraini Tawjihia.
- Any other certificates recognized by the Bahraini Ministry of Education as equivalent to a Tawjihia certificate.

Entry Requirements for Transfer Applicants
The university accepts undergraduate programme applicants transferring from other recognized institutions of education. Transfer applicants are eligible for consideration for admission subject to meeting the following conditions:
- Completion of one or more semesters in the institution they are transferring from.
- Passing the English language proficiency requirements, if required.
- Submission of a copy of the official transcripts of the courses studied with the syllabi and description and a withdrawal letter from the previous institution of higher education.

- Copy of the applicant’s undergraduate degree (certificate, graduation notification and academic transcript) certified and endorsed by the Bahraini Ministry of Education

- Copy of the official endorsed transcripts of the courses studied in the other institution of higher education with the syllabi and course descriptions

Transfer of Credits Rules and Regulations
Transfer applicants attempting to transfer credits earned from their previous institution of higher education may be granted credits for courses required in their new academic programme at Ahlia University according to the University transfer of credits rules and regulation which are in line with the with the Bahraini Higher Education Council transfer of credits regulations, which are as follows:
- The maximum number of credits that an undergraduate programme transfer applicant can be exempted from based on their prior education is 66% of the total number of credits required in the programme they applied for at Ahlia University.
- Equivalent credits/courses taken at previous higher education institution will be transferred only if;
o The applicant has obtained a “C” grade or higher in the course
o The course has an equivalent course in the new academic programme at Ahlia University
o The course has an equal or higher number of credits to its equivalent course at Ahlia University.
Undergraduate Programmes – Required Attestation
In order for applications to be processed the applicants are required to submit certified or attested secondary school certificates and official university transcripts for transferred students.
Requirements for Bahraini Graduates of Secondary Schools:
- For public schools: An official transcript of grades for the last three years of secondary school and a graduation notification issued by the Bahraini Ministry of Education.
- For private schools: An official transcript of grades for the last three years of secondary school and a graduation notification endorsed and signed by the Bahraini Ministry of Education along with a certificate of equivalence issued by the Directorate of Private Education in the Bahraini Ministry of Education.
Requirements for Graduates of International Secondary Schools:
Official attested secondary school transcripts and the attested graduation notification are required. The attestations have to be done by the authorized educational authority/ ministry in the country of graduation. Both documents have to be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bahraini Embassy in the country of graduation. A certificate of equivalence obtained from the Bahraini Ministry of Education is required.
All original certificates/transcripts/documents should be presented for verification during the application.
