What will you study?
RCSI Bahrain’s medical programme is a core five-year programme.The six-year programme provides a one-year preparation stage in advance of entry to the core five-year programme.
The Medicine programme for School Leavers and Mature Entry students is outlined below:
- Foundation Year (two semesters)
- Year 1 (two semesters)
- Year 2 (two semesters)
- Year 3
- Year 4 (Senior Cycle 1)
- Year 5 (Senior Cycle 2)
In Foundation Year and Year 1, you will be taught in a mixture of lectures and small group teaching involving tutorials, anatomy practicals and clinical skills training.
In Year 2 and Year 3, you will participate in small group simulation scenarios with state-of-the-art simulators, progressing to Year 4 and Year 5, where you will be attached to consultant-led (senior physicians) teams in a hospital setting.
Throughout your studies you will be provided with continuous appraisal, mentoring and case presentations on an individual basis, along with frequent reviews of your clinical progress with senior clinicians in the clinical years.
Fees
For academic year 2023/2024, annual tuition fees for all stages of RCSI Bahrain’s undergraduate medicine programme are US$39,500 per annum (approx. BD 14,900) for Bahraini Nationals and $41,475 (approx. BD 15,595) for Non-Bahraini Nationals. The fees include the provision of a personal computer device for each student.

Medical Commencement Programme
Duration: One year
Qualification: Certificate in Foundation Medical Science
This programme is for students who have a passion for medicine but require additional learning before commencing the undergraduate medicine programme.

Qualification
On completion of the programme, students will receive a Certificate in Biomedical Sciences from the National University of Ireland, which is a Special Purpose Award at level 6 of the Irish National Framework of Qualifications.
Curriculum
The MCP comprises 12 modules run over two semesters, including Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Fundamental Sciences Laboratories and either English for Medical Studies or Research. In addition, students undertake Third Level Learning (semester 1) and Communications (semester 2). Teaching methods vary according to the requirements of each module, but typically include lectures, tutorials, workshops, group and individual work and self-directed learning and are characterised by small class sizes.

For academic year 2023/2024, annual tuition fees for RCSI Bahrain’s Medical Commencement Programme are US$11,300 (approx. BD 4,250) per annum for Bahraini Nationals and $11,865 (approx. BD 4,4610) for Non-Bahraini Nationals

What will you study?
The BSc (Hons) Nursing is a full-time, four-year undergraduate nursing degree programme. During the programme, students will gain experience in the nursing care of children, adults and the elderly and will spend half of their time in local clinical settings such as primary and community healthcare centres and psychiatric, general and specialist hospital care through our affiliated hospitals.
During the programme, students will learn the principles of holistic care, clinical competence, therapeutic communication, accountability and personal development. The curriculum also includes biomedical and social sciences knowledge, as applied to nursing, while the education dynamic involves the fostering of problem-solving skills, critical thinking and evidence-based approaches, all fundamental to nursing.
Qualification
Students will graduate from the School of Nursing and Midwifery with a BSc (Hons) Nursing from RCSI Bahrain and the National University of Ireland (NUI).
BSc (Hons) Nursing graduates are able to conduct a holistic assessment of patient needs, and plan their care in conjunction with other clinical team members. They are also able to monitor patient progress in line with a care plan, and be fully aware of legalities around their care
RCSI Bahrain strives to produce self-aware nurses who develop their competence through practicing, and who can establish, maintain, and conclude therapeutic practice with patients, be it on an individual, group, family or community basis.
Being a nurse means being a team player, and at a more senior stage, graduates will be able to lead and delegate to other nurses, and foster teamwork in their daily practice.
